Small Animals
Among the small animals you might see are turtles, ducks, geese, rabbits, fox, snakes, and chipmunks. Because they move slowly turtles are especially vulnerable. The photo shows a snapping turtle and nests along the trail in Nashua.

Large Animals
Although they generally stay clear of people, you might occasionally see deer, moose, or bear along the trail. Gerry Couper, a Friend of the NRRT, got this great picture of a bear near the Sandy Hill Rd. crossing in June 2018.
