The mission of the Groton Turtle Conservation is to reduce the high injury and mortality rate of Groton's turtles on roads, to keep observation records for the state, to augment nesting success when necessary, and to educate the public about the extraordinary attributes of Groton's seven species of turtles. GTC puts up over 50 temporary turtle crossing signs annually in critical areas, shares turtle information and alerts through our local paper and the Groton community Facebook group. With state permission, we protect rare species nests if brought to our attention. We work with rehabbers to assure injured turtles receive medical treatment. We are honored to be part of such a caring community of turtle stewards.
